Reflection 1

In today’s modern world and society, it is inevitable that technology has become a prominent craft in many aspects. It is used to promote businesses, movies, social personalities and much more. It has also proven its use in helping students learn to their fullest potential in our classrooms. Because it is so prevalent in the younger and growing generations in the school systems, technology can be used as a tool to help aid students in learning and comprehending lessons. What I have learned is that the lesson always comes first and the technology tool based on the lesson comes after. The tool is merely an aid but a very great and useful one at that. In order to have a student achieve their fullest version of higher order thinking in this day and age, (HOT: critical thinking, decision-making, problem solving abilities, understanding and grasping information instead of just using memorization) the use of technology just makes sense. With its growing advancements and renowned universal popularity, technology makes a great learning tool for students to use. The use of higher order thinking in classrooms has proven to be quite effective and what better way to put forth such a teaching method than with the use of technology. There could be simulations, learning games, webinars, and so much more that can help students actively engage in a lesson. The possibilities of technology helping us achieve higher order thinking are endless “Our findings suggest that if teachers purposely and persistently practice higher order thinking strategies for example, dealing in class with real-world problems, encouraging open-ended class discussions, and fostering inquiry-oriented experiments, there is a good chance for a consequent development of critical thinking capabilities.”
